‘Justice Was Done’: NY Legal Community Reacts to Murder Conviction for Derek Chauvin

Members of the New York legal community on Tuesday saw justice in Derek Chauvin’s conviction on three counts for the murder of George Floyd last year in Minneapolis, but many noted that much work remains to be done in reforming policing and establishing racial equity.

And some attorneys say that the massive publicity and intense emotion surrounding Chauvin’s case may have deprived the disgraced police officer of a fair trial.
